  Witnesses are coming to stay with me during the Convention! Should I go?

  a witness family is staying with us next week for the convention!

  brother x has been pressuring me to attend.

  first i said i would go on sunday.....but he said he would love me to go all 3 days.

  Tonights Local Needs talk

  so our po gets up there tonight to give a local needs part.

  he goes on and on about how we should not gossip if we think that someone is acting wrong in the cong.

  then he goes on to say that if we know of anything we must go to the elders.. well, i know of someone who wrote a letter to the boe about a brother that was fired for sexual harrassment at his job and then just quit his current job because he was "accused" again of sexual harrassment.

  They can't act on hearsay. Even though the situation you outlined is pretty good circumstantial evidence of someone with a problem, it's circumstantial.
  
  Not that there haven't been elders who acted on hearsay. There have been. And they were WRONG for doing it.

  i was just wondering how many of you have found a "new faith" since leaving the jw"s. for instance, are u a member of another church, another religion, or are u now a committed atheist.

  if u have found a new faith, what convinces you that its the right one?.

  Would You Go Back?

  yesterday, my aunt was talking to one of my siblings about how things have been changing in our [ex] congregation for the 'better'.. she mentioned how a new circuit overseer has come in and is shaking things up.

  the co appointed a ministerial servant (someone, the po & secretary didn't like and i know would never have voluntarily suggested appointment) and some of the 'brothers' that have had no 'responsibility' ever are being given #4 talks.

  she also mentioned that the book study will be cancelled and the meetings are being shortened.. a ministerial servant who had a vendetta against some of the elders wants me to talk to a co and basically tell him i left the congregation [and the religion] because of the incompetence of the elders.. i'm not talking to the co and i'm not 'blaming' anyone.

  Are judicial committees titillating when the wrongdoer is attractive?

  is it more interesting to the elders if the sister doing naughty things is sexy?

  or is it just uncomfortable for everyone no matter what?

  do their questions get more or less detailed depending on looks?

  I've read several accounts here, and have heard it from others in person, how many elders get jollies from asking the questions. I have to say that under many circumstances, they should ask the questions. (They shouldn't get vicarious pleasure from this necessary task, however.)
  
  It is necessary to ask Sister Sexy if she had sex more than once with her boyfriend. Was she drunk or under the influence of another drug at the time? What positions did they do it in? Now, we start to get hot. But that question is necessary in order to ascertain the attitude of the sinner. Was it a quick, one time thing, or was it a 3-hour orgy?

  talk to god whenever they can.
